EverEx participated in the MIK Hot Spot (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) KHIDI and introduced its knee joint exercise device KneeEx with high hopes of meeting buyers and investors.

It was developed help people with early-stage arthritis or who had gone through surgery, realizing that there are not many devices that can help them exercise properly. The name of the device is a compound word of “knee” and “exercise,” literally meaning the device to help exercise the knee.

To be more specific, KneeEx is a wearable healthcare solution composed of software equipped with a hardware device with an exercise intensity control function, an electric stimulator (EMS), a muscle mass measurement device, and a communication module that can communicate with a smartphone app, and also an exercise guide, a goal-achieving game, and exercise data storage that enables communication with medical staff.

Currently, the exercise equipment for strengthening the muscles around the knee is often too big, and have restrictions in using it despite being easy to purchase on the Internet. Also, it is unclear as to how effective they would be for treatment.

Reflecting this market situation, EverEx has collaborated with domestic/overseas rehabilitation and robotics specialists in addition to its own research for the past year to actualize the idea of professional exercise equipment that can be used at home. As a result, it created KneeEx, expected to be greatly effective in strengthening the muscles and rehabilitation around the knees by achieving the resistance operation and the precise stimulation pattern of EMS (electric stimulation device).

In addition to the technical advantages, KneeEx instantly connects to a smartphone app developed through the Bluetooth module. This simple and fun device analyzes the collected data of exercise and muscle to provide a personalized experience to the users. In addition to these functions, the communication feature with the medical staff pursued by EverEx is evaluated as a new paradigm targeting the digital therapy market in the future.

Based on various clinical experiences on knee joints, CEO Yoon Chan who is an orthopedic specialist said, “There are increasing needs for muscle strengthening exercises around the knee and rehabilitation through various reasons such as degenerative arthritis due to aging, surgery, and injuries during exercise, but the current rehabilitation equipment is too big, expensive, and even the simplest rehabilitation has to be done in the hospital or rehabilitation center.” He then said, “KneeEx provides the EMS electrical stimulation pattern for the operation method and exercises designed directly by the orthopedists and robotics experts for many years. So, you can use KneeEx to exercise at home, and can even receive a futuristic service of communicate with the medical staff.”

The prototype for KneeEx has already been completed, and the company plans to sell the product through various online/offline channels starting this summer. It is currently attracting investment. Next year, it plans to provide its equipment to the hospitals in Korea and overseas to treat patients there.
